Insulin Potentiation Therapy (IPT), also known as Insulin Potentiation Targeted Low Dose Therapy (IPTLD), is a relatively new approach to fighting Cancer. It has only been used in the United States since the 1990's, however, it is a time proven approach to treating Cancer since it was originally founded and developed in Mexico by Dr. Donato Perez Garcia in 1932. The therapy is essentially a hybrid of alternative and conventional perspectives.
IPT is the administration of a much lower dose of chemo, which selectively targets Cancer cells. For the most part, it does not deleteriously impact normal, healthy cells. Patients receive chemo drugs in greatly reduced doses (only 10%-25% of normal conventional doses) and do not suffer the usual debilitating side effects of chemotherapy drugs. This therapy has unique administration and targeting abilities. Read on ...
More Specifically -
Insulin is injected into the patient (the amount is dependent upon the patient's body weight). It causes the patient's blood glucose (sugar) to drop. The patient is kept in this "adjusted state" and carefully monitored for 5-6 minuites. As the blood glucose drops, the healthy cells metablolize fat for energy, but Cancer cells cannot engender this process. The patient's Cancer cells become seriously compromised. Cancer cells love sugar. At this moment in the treatment, their sugar (glucose) is becoming depleted. If it were possible to deprive Cancer cells of glucose, they would die within a matter of minutes, however, this cannot be done as it would seriously harm the patient. The patient's glucose is, however, decreased by 60% -75% (and they, again, are being closely monitored). This mitigation is enough to cause the Cancer cells to become compromised and, thus, more vulnerable to chemotherapy drugs.
They depend on glucose more than normal healthy cells, therefore, they actually make and release their own insulin. Insulin allows these cells to take up glucose. As a result of making their own insulin, Cancer cells are guaranteed to have enough glucose to survive. They also have a mechanism which helps them obtain more glucose : insulin receptors. Cancer cells have approximately 10 times more receptors than normal, healthy cells. So, when glucose levels decrease after the insulin infusion, Cancer cells become extra "hungry" and, metaphorically, "concerned". They increase their number of insulin receptors, as they are becoming weaker, and BINGO, THIS IS THE TIME when chemotherapy drugs are injected into the patient. The "floodgates", or perhaps I should say, the numerous receptors are open, the cells have become weakened and are now most vulnerable. Immediately following the intravenous infusion of chemo drugs, there is an infusion of a large amount of glucose. The Cancer cells, starved for glucose, and significantlyweakened, gobble up the glucose and the chemo drugs.
So - the Cancer cells take in (absorb) much greater amounts of chemo drugs than in conventional applications due to the targeting impact facilitated by the insulin association. Additionally, since they are in a more vulnerable and weakened state from lack of glucose (sugar), they are much more sensitive to the toxic effects of the drugs. The result is a level of Cancer cell death, and growth control, comparable to or better than conventional chemotherapy.
THE BIG DIFFERENCE - IPT is kinder and gentler.............because the IPT technique results in a greater targeting of the chemo drugs into the Cancer cells, therefore, much lower doses can be used (10% - 25% of normal chemo doses). This engenders little or no side effects. As a result, more frequent chemo administration using IPT can be applied without concern of significant horrific effects of chemo to the immune system and other harmful effects impacting the tissues, organs and the entire body in general.
There have not been many studies addressing the benefits of IPT, however, the Doctors who utilize it, speak strongly about its benefits and results.

Additionally, if you want to view more video and patient testimonials regarding IPT go to www.youtube.com, insert "insulin potentiation therapy" into "Search" and click on search.
This is obviously a therapy to consider, if you are contemplating taking the chemotherapy route.
