Welcome to my website and blog (hereafter known as “blog”). My name is Rick Shapiro. In my professional life, I am the Owner of a Merger & Acquisition Advisory Firm known as The Wheatley Group. In brief, we sell companies. This blog has nothing to do with my business. It is about something much more important. It is about life and death issues, specifically, it is about a horrific disease which has become the # 1 killer of Americans, Cancer. This blog will focus, primarily, on late stage Cancer predicaments, stage 3 Cancer and stage 4 Cancer, but will also include information relevant to earlier stage situations.
My personal attitudinal compass does not permit me to “hate”. I may dislike certain things or certain people, but I believe “hating” is a destructive trait and injurious to all involved … with one exception - I hate Cancer. Why have I developed such a passion regarding this insidious disease ? Because Cancer became personal with my family, and I don’t take that lightly. The seminal cause of my passion originated on February 20, 1996, when my Fathers Doctor walked up to me in the hospital hallway and said - “we look at your Dads situation as terminal”. These compelling words instantaneously brought about gut wrenching and deep emotional pain !! In a virtual nanosecond, this pronouncement “terminated” my sense of hope and belief. Think about it - an expert, a highly respected Medical Doctor has just told you, without equivocation, that a life will end in the near future. It is his expert opinion, corroborated by a specialist (Oncologist), that your beloved Father will die in the near future. Perhaps as you read this, you don’t need to imagine this, as you may be living this reality right now.
In 1996, as my Father wasted away, it didn’t occur to me that there might be something that we, as a family, or I as an individual, could do to help my Father. I knew that there might be certain alternative paths, but I had no knowledge whether these protocols were being pitched by charlatans or had some evidentiary basis in fact. My Father passed away on March 29, 1996 … the years and time went by, yet a gnawing feeling continued to plague me. I felt that there must be some people who are told by their Physicians that they “should get their affairs in order”, who ultimately beat Cancer. There must be people who are told they will probably die within 30 days, 6 months or one year, who end up significantly extending their lives for many years or who go on to thrive as if they were never diagnosed with Cancer at all. How and why does this happen ?
During the past 10 years, I have quietly explored the ”possibilities” … I have conducted significant independent research regarding Cancer, especially concerning people with late stage Cancer (Stage 3 and 4) as well as many people who are told that they are “terminal”. I have read and studied numerous books, scholarly articles, reputable journals, clinical studies and reports, as well as numerous white papers by recognized pundits. I have explored thousands of websites and diverse sources of information from regional and global sources related to an amalgam of varied treatments. My research has included the exploration of many personal success stories, some face to face, with amazing people who stood at the edge of the abyss, who beat Cancer and live life to its fullest and thrive today. Essentially, I have passionately been exploring, with an open mind. Mind you, I am well aware of the indisputable fact that there are charlatans in the Cancer marketplace who will shamelessly exploit the vulnerable, those who are desperately seeking something that will give them HOPE, despite the dire prognoses of their Doctors. I am vigilant to these realities and maintain a healthy skepticism to “quick fix” cures.
Notwithstanding these immoral people who sometimes give the term “alternative cancer treatment” questionable credibility, I have come to the unequivocal conclusion that there are many "alternative cancer treatment" options available both here in the USA and abroad which offer real hope for longer, healthier lives and victories over Cancer.
It is my mission to apprise you of the different opinions, perspectives, discussions, treatments and therapies which may help you, or your loved one’s fight against Cancer. Hopefully, you will find this information to be thought provoking and informative. To this end, I hope to offer HOPE. Hope is an illusive term, it is indefinite, it does not offer guarantees nor promises, but it does offer real possibilities. My writings and video, will include information offered by knowledgeable people, both regionally and from around the globe. I hope this information will be illuminating and insightful. So ... now, you understand the seminal occurrence which fired my desire to “make a difference”, to help people who face a similar scenario which my Father faced in 1996.
Final Thought – this blog is absolutely not an indictment of the medical establishment nor the many superb Doctors, healthcare providers, scientists, nurses, pundits and related entities that comprise the conventional establishment. Many of these people have helped bring about great progress and continue to devote their lives, with integrity, to fighting the scourge of cancer. Certainly, there are conventional protocols and treatments which have proven to be compelling and helpful in the fight against Cancer. This blog is, however, intended to question, consider, opine, provoke and offer interesting information which may, in whole or in part, be contrary at times, to the opinions of the conventional establishment, especially when it relates to late stage Cancer situations.
Godspeed, keep moving forward, keep striving and thriving. Keep the Hope !!
